About the studio
A practice built around the moment a product meets the hand
FormForge Design was founded in 2008 by three designers who had spent their careers watching beautiful concepts degrade between CAD release and mass production. We built a studio that stays with a program from material research through the production ramp.
Where we work
Our teams operate from studios in Copenhagen and Taipei, within a day of the anodizing lines, glass processors, and injection moulders that decide whether a specification is buildable. That proximity is deliberate: material decisions belong near the machines that execute them.
We work with consumer electronics OEMs on flagship device families, with vehicle programs on interior surfaces and trim architecture, and with hardware manufacturers on products expected to be touched daily for two decades. Roughly two-thirds of our engagements are multi-year relationships across successive generations.
We are seventeen people — industrial designers, CMF specialists, a materials engineer, and two program managers. Every project has a named lead who is present at supplier reviews, not a rotating account team.
Principles
How we make decisions
Material before form
We choose the substrate and finish before locking geometry. A radius drawn without knowing whether it will be forged, cast, or extruded is a guess that engineering pays for later.
Tolerances, not adjectives
"Warm grey" means nothing on a production line. Every finish we release carries a Delta-E target, a gloss unit range, and a physical master sample held by both parties.
Touch is the first review
Buyers judge edge break, thermal response, and perceived mass within seconds of picking a product up. We prototype for the hand long before we prototype for the camera.
Design that survives the ramp
A concept that cannot hold yield at 40,000 units a week is not finished. We stay on the program through first-article inspection and golden-sample sign-off.
